Heart Evangelista to exhibit lavish hand-painted bags
MANILA, Philippines — From being the heartthrob leading lady onscreen to becoming an impressive creative force in the art world, painter Love Marie Ongpauco-Escudero explores another facet of herself as an artist as she uses her deft touch in decorating exquisite luxury bags.
These creations will be part of her upcoming exhibit, Carry Your HeART, which will be held at the Volkswagen Showroom in Bonifacio Global City on Sept. 3, 2016, and will be on display until Sept. 9, 2016.
In 2014, Love Marie surprised her adoring fans and the public when she held her first painting exhibit at Art Space of the Ayala Museum. She continued sharing her works through other exhibits, and even became the first Filipina to hold an exhibit at Chan Hampe Galleries in Raffles Hotel, Singapore.
At the press launch of her Carry Your HeART exhibit at Todd English Food Hall on August 16, Love Marie explained how she stumbled upon painting.
“Ever since I was a child I would paint on our walls and also paint on Vogue magazine covers. Like you doodle on them and change their makeup stuff like that...Actually, I never really stopped painting since then,” Love Marie said.
Today, Love Marie challenges herself through the use of a new canvas – luxury bags. The artist admits her new found art was not easy. Nevertheless, she felt happy for having found a new way to express herself.
Sleepless nights paid off as each work has become an image of whimsy, alive with color and symbolism. “Each represents me as an artist. Each is truly a unique work of art,” she shared.
Through her work, Love Marie adds another dimension of luxury, exclusivity and uniqueness to each handbag. “I’m thankful to my clients for entrusting me with such an incredible piece. In return, I promised them something different, truly unique, and something they can proudly claim as being the only one.”
