Contour much? Here's a quick, easy guide to slimmer face

Alixandra Caole Vila - Philstar.com

MANILA, Philippines – Filipinas have always been fans of beauty trends that have encouraged a cult following globally – from the smoky eyes, to the no make-up look and the ever popular contouring.

Contoured makeup has been sported by A-list celebrities around the word, showcasing defined features and accentuating a slimmer, perfect V-shaped face. And since not all Filipinas were born with prominent jaws and slim nose, the trend perfectly comes in handy.

But then again, let’s face it. Not all of us is a pro when it comes to makeup. Some might have already mastered the five-minute look, but surely, few have mastered the ravishing contoured look. So, what’s a girl got to do to nail the perfect contoured look?

On June 13, Maybeline New York in collaboration with Calyxta.com conducted an event at The Brewery at The Palace to introduce Maybelline’s very first contouring line – V-Face Contour by FACE STUDIO and to give us a sneak peek on how contouring is made easy with the right set of products.

Here’s a step-by-step guide on how you can achieve that 10 percent slimmer face and an instant sharper nose without over doing it.

STEP 1: Prep

Before putting any make up on, prep your face using moisturizer, sunscreen and BB cream.

STEP 2: Contour

Using your contour stick, apply dark shade along hairline, hollows of cheeks, jawline, side along jawline and hollows of cheeks, and sides of nose bridge.

STEP 3: Highlight

Apply highlighter, also along the high points of your face.

STEP 4: Blend

Blend dark shade along hairline, hollows of cheeks, jawline, and sides of nose bridge. Do the same with the highlighter.

STEP 5: Set

Anything that is wet or moist should be properly set with powder for lasting coverage and to avoid smudging.

STEP 6: Blush and glow

Apply a shade of pink or orange blush along cheekbones to get that instant rosy cheeks. For a dewy and glow look, pick another shade that is lighter than what you have previously put and pat it on the high points of your cheek.
