Old world glamour meets modern details
MANILA, Philippines - Filip Tysander’s brand Daniel Wellington was inspired by a dapper British gentleman he met while backpacking in Australia. Noticing that his new companion secured a vintage round-faced timepiece to his wrist with a type of striped nylon strap made popular by the British military, Tysander returned to his native Sweden and built his company around this intriguing man, even naming it after him.
The marriage of old world glamour and modern details resulted in unisex watches that warrant a second look and are very affordable. Each DW timepiece features the signature round white dial and interchangeable Italian leather or sturdy nylon (NATO) straps. At 1/4-inch slim, the polished stainless steel or rose-gold plated watchcase glides seamlessly under a jacket or cuffed sleeve, and Japanese Miyota quartz movement and mineral glass ensure reliability and scratch-resistance.
The DW collection features four models. The Classic line comes in 36 or 40mm size and has the simplest watch face, featuring discreet minute markers. The 36mm Grace uses Roman numerals to mark the 12 and 6 hours, while the delicate Classy line is available in 26 or 34mm size and has a clean face with a Swarovski crystal index adding an extra touch for special events. The Dapper line is 38mm with distinctive blue hands, Roman numerals, and a date display highlighting the calfskin strap.
Designed for the preppy, hipster era, Daniel Wellington timepieces both catch the eye but never draw too much attention to their presence. Like a person-of-the-moment, the brand personifies modern elegance with a nod to classic style.
