Dear Lucy,
I gained so much weight over the holidays. I need to shed it because I’m going to be part of a wedding entourage and the gown I am wearing is fitted.
I would also like to know how best to wear this beautiful camisole top I got as a Christmas gift. It is white, made of matte silk, and the details are pretty — pin tucks, a hint of ruffles, an easy shape.

I think everyone gained weight during the holidays. It is the most natural thing to happen, with all the get-togethers, the feasting. But it is time to get back on track. Healthy food choices are the way to go. If you are committed, juicing is a healthy way to lose weight. Please do not go on a crash diet that promises to make you shed pounds in a few days. You will gain it all right back. Try juicing, using more vegetables than fruits in the combination. You can replace meals with glasses of fresh, raw, pure juice that’s packed with nutrients. If replacing all three main meals with fresh juices is too severe for you, then you can perhaps just substitute a meal or two. Go easy on dessert and simple carbs. Drink lots of water. Sweat it out. When it comes to losing weight the healthy way, there are no shortcuts.
Regarding the camisole, I would wear that tucked into a high-waisted skirt that is knee-length. I will want to layer necklaces — fine chains and maybe a long strand of pearls or two. I would also wear that with cropped trousers, an easy cardigan, and heels. A camisole is a wardrobe staple. It can carry you from day to night and many other moments in between.

Socks for your fave sneakers
DEAR RISSA,
I love wearing sneakers! But we did a lot of walking during our holiday vacation and I got blisters. I realized the seams of my socks were rubbing against my toes. What’s a good pair of seamless socks to use? Fiona
Athleisure wear has been a big trend and sneakers have become a fashion statement. Although not all sneakers are comfortable inside and out, it helps to have the right socks. It’s like having the right underwear beneath your clothes, but this time for your feet —which work the hardest! I really like the socks of Toesox because they’re seamless all over. You’ll never get seams rubbing against your toes or feet, so you can say goodbye to blisters. The best thing is their socks feature a five-toe design, which allows toes to move and spread naturally. It may feel weird at first, but when you do a lot of walking, it makes a huge difference to your feet’s well-being. The feet feel better when they can move and naturally spread. I discovered them because I turned to Toesox for my Pilates footgear, and I saw that they also offered regular sports socks. Best of all, they’re thin like second skin but durable enough to take all the walking and punishment. You can find Toesox at Certified Calm in Shangri-La Palza Mall and Two Parkade BGC. Rissa
