Marikina shoes enter the digital stage

MANILA, Philippines - They say that investing in a quality pair of shoes affects the overall being of an individual. But whenever the words “quality shoes” are mentioned, Filipino heritage and craftsmanship rarely come to mind. Instead, many are quick to look at shoes that are crafted by foreign hands.

Italy and Britain hold the monopoly for the world’s best when it comes to shoes. Their brands are known for their rich leathers, stylish designs, and attention to detail. But this is about to change. The shoe capital of the Philippines is expanding beyond brick-and-mortar stores to show the world Filipino craftsmanship and shoes proudly made in Marikina.

The City of Marikina has established itself as the country’s shoe capital and is home to shoemakers whose dedication to quality shoes can match those of Italy and Britain. Together with Marikina Shoe Industry Development Office (MASIDO), the local shoe industry through the online store marikinashoes.theshop.ph will rejuvenate itself.

As part of the newly-launched partnership, the online store will feature premium, high-quality shoes, carefully crafted using 100 percent genuine leather by Marikina-based shoemakers such as Gibson, A-Fit-Tizer, Valentino, Checkpoint, Fontelle, Pads Shuz, Ellen & Mae, Alicia and Medz Shoes.

The new online store is TheShop.ph and LBC’s way of showing support for Filipino shoemakers.
