I got Belofied
Trying to look youthful when one becomes a golden seniorella is a constant struggle -—with the sun, age, pollutants and irritants that bombard us daily.
Since I am chicken when it comes to invasive procedures, I decided to visit my good friend Dr. Vicki Belo to find out how one can look young without going under the knife as I am a sissy when it comes to surgery and pain.
The vivacious workaholic Dr. Vicki gave me several options on what she felt would be best since I didn’t want any downtime involved. As she thoroughly explained various procedures for skin laxity, jowls, wrinkles and dark pigments that are typical of my age group, I had to ask her if she ever got bored or tired of her work since she is always on the go. Dr. Vicki said she truly loves what she is doing and I wholeheartedly agree as I could see how enthusiastic she was in her kingdom (or shall I say, queendom).
Dr. Vicki recommended that I undergo a Hydrafacial to exfoliate my skin (with a vacuum-based skin abrasion tip) and hydrate my face with antioxidant serums, which I did. A few days after the treatment, I visited Dr. Lois Libago at the Belo Clinic Megamall for the Revlite and Acupuncture Rejuvenation Therapy.
Revlite is done in less than an hour. For patients with low pain tolerance, a cream anesthetic is applied for 25 minutes with the laser treatment taking only about 10 to 15 minutes.
This photo-acoustic pulse shatters pigment clusters resulting in immediate and noticeable lightening by going deep into the skin tissue without harming the skin and inducing new collagen production. Best of all, it can be used on the face and neck area for improving color and texture, the underarms for lightening, and improvement of chicken skin. Freckles and age spots tend to respond more quickly compared to deeper, more complex lesions. The Revlite laser can also be used for tattoo removal.
Using Q-switched Nd:YAG for lightening pigmentation and skin rejuvenation, the Revlite laser emits very short flashes of light called pulses and may feel like a snap of a thin rubber band. After the treatment, my face felt slightly warm, but I was ready to go about my regular daily schedule.
It is recommended to combine Revlite with the Acupuncture Rejuvenation Therapy as they go hand in hand with improving lymphatic flow and draining of the broken pigments from the Revlite procedure.
The Acupuncture Rejuvenation Therapy (also known as Facial Rejuvenation Acupuncture) is a non-surgical, holistic therapy that reduces the signs of aging by treating both the face directly and the underlying causes of aging. It adjusts the circulation of qi flowing through channels in the body. Thin, sterile needles are placed in specific points on the face, ears, limbs and possibly other areas of the body like the chin and abdomen to manipulate energy, blood and lymph flow.
These are the effects that I noticed immediately after a series of acupuncture therapy:
1. Improvement in muscle tone and skin contraction in the face and neck area.
2. Increase in collagen production to diminish wrinkles.
4. Reduction of sagging in the face and neck.
5. Reduction of puffiness
6. Diminished dark age spots.
7. Detoxification of the face and body through increased lymphatic drainage.
8. Improvement in facial color by increasing blood and lymph movement.
Other effects:
•Decrease of dark circles and eyebags.
•Relaxation of muscle tightness in the face and neck area.
•Regulation of hormones to treat acne.
•Brightening of the eyes.
•Improvement of other health conditions (insomnia, digestive complaints, low back pain).
The difference between this acupuncture therapy and other procedures such as Botox, collagen or filler injections, laser treatments and microdermabrasion is that it focuses on the body’s internal imbalance that causes aging and not just the symptoms. Ideally, a series of 10 to 12 treatments is necessary to maximize the benefits. It is usually done once a week for 12 weeks with maintenance treatments every three months. Both treatments are perfect for people on the go.
