Aldo brings back its iconic clog
MANILA, Philippines - Aldo reintroduces Frida, the beloved shoe that launched the international retailer on its feet. Updated with luxe leather and a narrow silhouette perched on a light wooden sole, the clog’s classic cachet is accentuated with metal studs and a gold stamp of authenticity commemorating the original Aldo logo.
Aldo’s first steps
In 1967, Aldo Bensadoun (affectionately referred to as Mr. B) arrived in Montreal on a spontaneous weekend trip to visit the Expo ’67 World’s Fair. He discovered parlors and cafés full of students, writers, philosophers and activists, all exchanging ideas on how to improve the world. The city mirrored his values and perspective, and so it is here that Mr. B chose to plant his feet and put two generations of familial footwear expertise to work. He set out to create a different kind of shoe company with a humanistic vision: to be aspirational, elevating and always accessible.
The original
Frida came to life in 1972 and instantly became a landmark shoe in a landmark era, fusing together elements from the free-spirited Seventies. This was a true fashion statement with a distinct focus on functionality for the reinvigorated, expressive and liberated woman. Immediately embraced, Frida was the company’s first best-seller and instantly put Aldo on the (fashion) map.
Frida for today
Effortless and vivacious, Frida is the fashion shoe for spring. Elegant with a shift dress or tough with a leather jacket, the fundamentals of this timeless silhouette remain intact. Encapsulating the independent and creative spirit of the individual, Frida continues to inspire change from the ground up.
