Here come Pat Santos’ blooming brides

MANILA, Philippines - Designer Pat Santos turned the wedding ceremony into a stylish affair with Entourage, his latest bridal offering unveiled at SM City BF Parañaque’s bridal fair, titled “Soiree in the City.”

“My collection is for the modern bride who is smart, bold, and forward-thinking. She dares to be different. The standard white dress won’t be good enough for her as she’d rather go pastel-hued or bold-colored instead,” said Santos. He revealed, “I was inspired by the dainty orchid plant. Orchids bloom in a range of colors and its beauty is really in the details.”

Two finale bridal gowns, one in white and the other in blush, showed Santos’ mastery of the modern-day bride. Weaving in beadwork and lace patchwork—two of bridal fashion’s current exciting trends—the designer spins a patchwork of lace together for this collection, glamming up pieces with luxurious Swarovski crystals and sparkles of gold appliques, beads, and sequins.

“It’s the intricate details that bring out the lace’s design. When worn, it flatters the female silhouette well,” Santos said, adding that he also took cues from European designs, which he incorporated with the traditional Asian look. The gowns are edgy and a bit eccentric, but, he points out, “still romantic, in keeping with the look and feel of the most special day of the woman’s life.”
