Stylist and image consultant Miel Villamor recently put up Stylehunter, an online store that sells affordable yet stylish clothing for the young and young-at-heart.
After finishing high school in Poveda, Miel proceeded to earn a bachelor of arts degree in Franklin College in Lugano, Switzerland, where she majored in Media Studies with minors in both Marketing and Visual Arts. While based in Europe, she was exposed to a wide variety of cultures that opened her eyes to the many facets of fashion.
Returning to Manila, she joined Meg magazine and within six months was promptly promoted as a fashion associate in the more sophisticated Mega magazine. This gave her a start in the industry by expanding her network and learning the ABCs of styling by working on cover girls and superstars that included Anne and Jasmine Curtis, Tweetie de Leon, Lucy Torres-Gomez, Sharon Cuneta and Jinky Paquiao.
Wanting to further her retail fashion sense, Miel opted to proceed to New York and work as an intern at Ronnie and Nicole, a line of ready-to-wear clothing. After a year, she was motivated to bring Filipinas more fashionable options at reasonable prices and promptly put up Stylehunter. It proved to be a hit with fashion-forward and inspired pieces from different parts of the globe — Bangkok, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Tokyo and New York, as well as her own designs that are made locally.
The 26-year-old Miel enthuses, “I love what I do and enjoy making women feel great about themselves with their outfits. Our goal is to offer fashionable items at an affordable price and continue to provide our customers with one-of-a-kind pieces from all over the world.â€
Now on its third collection, Stylehunter will launch an accessories line within the year. With prices ranging from P800 to P2,900, it’s a great way to look stylish and hip without maxing out one’s budget.
