BCBG Max Azria explores style archetypes

MANILA, Philippines -The country’s hottest celebrities and personalities gathered at the launch of BCBG Max Azria’s latest collection called “Wild Life and Lady Remix” along with the opening of its Philippine flagship store at 1F of East Wing Atrium of Shangri-La Mall.

For BCBG Max Azria, this season is all about exploring new possibilities to break from standardization, while keeping the brand’s vision of taking today’s dynamic woman from the work place to a weekend getaway — in style.

Characterized by the four archetypes of the BCBG Max Azria customer, this season’s ambassadors were unveiled through a guerrilla photoshoot. Amid a backdrop of lights, flashing cameras and a professional makeup studio, each style icon was prepped and dolled up by industry experts — make up artist Jigs Mayuga, photographer Paolo Pineda, and model Bolivar.

Xandra Rocha, an up-and-coming restaurateur, TV show host and modern businesswoman — was the first ambassador to take the spotlight. Hailed as the “Visionary,” she has always been the independent thinker and trendsetter, using fashion to express her trailblazing attitude.

Jessica Kienle, a model and entrepreneur of Swiss-Filipino descent from an affluent family — characterized perfectly the “Socialite” archetype: part of the enviable elite and well-versed in the latest must-have styles.

Mikaela Lagdameo, who loves to play with styles that range from casual and relaxed to classically elegant, was named as the “Connoisseur.” She shines in the fields of modeling and business, where she continues to balance personal and family life.

To round up the list, the “Urban Rocker” personality was embodied by Maggie Wilson, known for her edginess and effortless cool.

The Lady Remix collection forms the new breed of androgynous couture. It strives to combine the tomboy chicness of streamlined designs with the dainty and refined details of lady-like structures. This revolutionary approach is the answer to the quest of femininity that pairs sensuality with restraint.

Lady Remix also features tailored separates — the men’s trouser and the ’70s suit. There will also be knee-length A-line and trumpet silhouettes for the key pieces in this set. With pintucks, lace inserts, jacquard patterns and fabric striping and color-blocking, BCBG Max Azria pushes the borders in creating pattern. These visual elements break the monotony of the pieces to make each skirt, pantsuit or jacket a class in its own kind. The fabrics used to create the Lady Remix collection span from a variety of crepe suiting, silk crepe de chine, silky georgette, satin-back crepes, lace accents, silk and cotton canvas, eco leather and silk blends in sweater jacquards.

To add texture to the pieces in this collection, Wild Life will feature three-dimensional embroideries, striped eco-leather and fabric blocking details to complete each look. There will also be bold statement jewelry in gold and gunmetal combinations, textured leather and novel treatments in handbags and accessories, and novelty buckles in belts to accentuate the entire collection.
