River Island comes to the Philippines
MANILA, Philippines -Another exciting UK high-street fashion label, River Island, is about to join the Philippine fashion scene. The brand, which offers stylish, unique and affordable fashion wear, opens at SM Aura Premier and Glorietta 5.
River Island’s AW13 collection’s mix of colors, textures and prints is catwalk-inspired but wearable in every way. The line has stunning work-wear options as well as timeless wardrobe staples.
Lending a casual, easy vibe to career clothes, the Workhouse trend includes denim dungarees best worn with printed knits and vibrant wool coats. Flashes of camouflage are found in fur-lined aviator jackets and other knitwear. Adding a twist to last year’s black and white stripes, the Mono trend has evolved into a more structured look, highlighting monochromatic graphic prints in chunky knits, jackets and jeans. Faux furs are mixed with leather to toughen up the look while still working a chic feel.
River Island’s thrift store-inspired Teen Spirit line showcases ’90s grunge with dainty floral dresses worn with contrasting heavy-duty coats and chunky biker boots. Classic checks and tartans blend well with vintage-inspired kimonos and ombré fur coats. To complete the eclectic story, lingerie slips and camisoles team with oversized coats and loose knits.
River Island has also collaborated with singer-superstar Rihanna with a style collection called “Rihanna for River Island,†which oozes sex appeal and an edgy line of this season’s trends centered in sporty-street cool.
With over 60 years of fashion retailing experience, River Island has over 300 stores in 15 countries across the UK, Asia, the Middle East and Europe, making it one of the most successful companies in high-street fashion. After the opening of the first branch in SM Aura, River Island is set to open another branch in Glorietta 5, which will carry the River Island x Rihanna Collection.
Robinsons Specialty Stores, Inc. (RSSI) is the exclusive franchisee of River Island in the Philippines.
