MANILA, Philippines - At the new sprawling San Juan City Hall, his big presence is inevitable as soon as he enters the grand hall. At 6’5†tall with a physique that’s the envy of many athletes, Vice Mayor Francis Zamora is the genteel giant with a ready smile to put one at ease as he extends a warm handshake.
“He’s always on time with his appointments,†his secretary assures the guests. But in this instance, call of duty comes first as he politely excused himself for an executive meeting with the mayor. After all, Zamora finds it both a joy and a privilege to be elected to serve the people of his hometown.
“A natural vice,†he quipped.
His exposure to politics is already a given (dad is Minority Floor Leader Ronnie Zamora). As a child, Zamora would tag along with his dad during campaigns and he found mingling with people stimulating. Good reason for him to develop a fondness for people from all walks of life. A happy family man, he makes it a point to find time for family bonding with his pretty wife Keri and their four young children Amanda, Rocco, Nikita and Noah.
Like a serious public servant, Zamora came prepared for the job.He graduated from De La Salle University with a bachelor of arts degree in psychology. This proud Green Archer was the team captain of the school’s basketball squad that won the championship during the 1998-1999 season of the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP). He furthered his studies at the New York University with a program in entrepreneurship and business management. He finished his master’s degree in public administration and governance from the University of the Philippines before his entry to politics.
With a busy schedule — from presiding over meetings at the session hall to interaction with his constituents — Zamora has an organized sense of dressing. He goes for the appropriate business attire, dress shirts and slacks during meetings and opts for casual wear when meeting with his constituents. He can be playful with his looks when he is with his buddies.
