Bianca Gonzalez: Every girl’s girl
MANILA, Philippines - On New Year’s Eve, Bianca Gonzalez decided that her 2013 was going to be fearless — a decision she celebrated by jumping off a plane in Skydive Monterey Bay. Known for her hosting, social activism and beauty, she has 2.4 million followers on Twitter and 283,000 followers on Instagram, where she posts reflections of her interests: work, travel, her advocacies and beauty. In an interview with The STAR, she is disarming — she talks about red lipstick almost with a passion, and shows us photos of her cartwheeling her way around the world. Here’s Bianca, every girl’s girl, life peg and celebrity BFF.
Your cartwheeling photos are really famous.
If some people take jump shots, I take cartwheel shots. In the beginning I would be dyahe, especially when I’m traveling alone, because I’d have to ask a random stranger to take my photo! Sometimes I would have to do it over and over again kasi hindi makuha ’yung shot. But after a while, I thought, “No one knows me here anyway and I would never see these people again.†(Laughs.)
If you could travel to anywhere right now, where would you go and what would you pack in your beauty kit?
I always go on random getaways and I always bring a small bottle of shampoo and body wash, tooth brush and Close-up White Now, Rexona spray, feminine wash and lotion — the basics for a girl!
What shade of red is that lipstick you’re wearing?
It’s actually lip-liner. I love lip-liner for long lasting, vibrant lips. For me, it works a lot better than lipstick. This is MAC Lip Pencil in Cherry. I top it with Burt’s Bees Beeswax Lip Balm.
You usually wake up at 3 a.m. for your Umagang Kay Ganda TV show at 5 a.m. How ever do you do it?
You just have to! Work is work and if some people end work at 3 a.m., I just happen to start at 3 a.m. It’s still a struggle to this day.
Diet or exercise?
Exercise! I can diet for a while when needed but I love eating too much.
Who is the most intimidating person you’ve interviewed?
Probably Kris Aquino!
Who’s the most fun?
Annabelle Rama and Eddie Gutierrez.
Got any girl crushes?
I’d say Solenn Heusaff!
Your job requires You to be Always on. What are your always on techniques?
Power naps help a lot, washing my face, coffee and a good pair of high heels.
Have you ever had any beauty emergencies or wardrobe malfunctions?
Surprise pimples are always tough, but concealer and powder usually does the trick. Green concealer is important to have because it is perhaps the best thing to use when trying to cover up difficult red blemishes. It’s about color science really; when you mix green concealer on a red blemish, they combine to make a neutral color. I use Bloom Secret Weapon Concealer Kit.
