Rhett Eala in a Parisian mode
MANILA, Philippines - An artist’s muse reveals itself in unlikely forms. She can be a woman, charming and ethereal. She can be a song, haunting and eternal. Or, she can be a city, enchanting and unforgettable. Rhett Eala’s Parisian, a collection of sparkly, ethereal but classic pieces, appears to be a tribute to the city’s glamor. Often referenced in literature and film, Paris, the city of lights, is the world’s capital of romance and the muse of many great artists. It is also home to L’Oreal Professionnel, the Parisian House of Hairdressing and the official partner of Paris Fashion Week.
At the newly-opened Hyve Club, L’Oreal Professionnel held “Muse,†a gathering of Manila’s top fashion and hair muses, where L’Oreal’s fashion muse Rhett Eala showed his Parisian collection in partnership with celebrity hair stylist Henri Calayag, who did the models’ tresses. A dominant theme was the architectural floral, gowns anchored more on the structure of a flower in bloom than on print. Classic cuts in silk organza, tulle, and gazar were accented with beading and floral appliqués.
One would expect a brand like L’Oreal, a leader in hair colour, care and styling innovations, to go overboard when it came to styling, but hair and makeup for Parisian was sultry and clean — a bold red lip, smoldering eyes and a dewy complexion made the face, while towering up-do’s and buns, and ‘40s pin-up curls swept to the side crowned the muses’ heads.
Rhett’s known muses are Celine Lopez and Tweetie de Leon-Gonzalez, but this time, the designer drew inspiration from the City of Lights. “Paris is the center of creativity in all forms of art, especially fashion,†said Rhett. “I have always loved the city because of its beauty and lights. It’s hard not to get inspired by Paris. This collection is not for the shy woman. It’s for the woman who quietly walks into a room but leaves with a bang,†he shared.
“Muse†was inspired by the partnering of iconic individuals –– artists, designers and their muses, like Marc Jacobs and Sofia Coppola, Florence Welch and Frida Gianni, Stella McCartney and Scarlett Johansson, Valentino and Anne Hathaway, and Alexander Wang and Azalea Banks. The event celebrated partnerships, as well as L’Oreal Professionnel’s muses –– its clients, through a night of fashion, glamor and great hair.
L’Oreal Professionnel is the company responsible for color innovations like Inoa, Majirel, DiaLight/Richesse, and straightening and perming solutions, Xtenso and Dulcia, as well as haircare brands Serie Expert, Hair Spa and Mythic Oil.
“L’Oréal Professionnel has created the world of beauty for over 100 years, and we continue to raise the bar when it comes to hair color, haircare, form and styling,†shared L’Oréal Professionnel product division general manager Yunus Koswara. “With this commitment, we are set to inspire loyal fans further with more exciting activities that only an industry leader like L’Oréal Professionnel can offer. Enriching activities like these set L’Oréal apart from the rest of the industry, as we always strive to go beyond hair discussions to include fashion as a whole.â€
