And now, after the BB cream comes the CC cream
BB, or beauty balm creams, were all the rage last year. With their multi-tasking abilities, my BB creams pretty much replaced liquid foundation in my kikay kit. I mean, who would want to go through the three-step process of applying moisturizer, sunscreen and foundation when you can do it all with one BB cream?
American company Juice Beauty has gone one (or nine) steps further with its newest product, however. Looking to Asia for the next big thing in beauty, they discovered that the Koreans are coming out with the next generation of BB creams, called CC (color corrector) creams, so Juice Beauty set about making its own. What they’ve developed is something truly extraordi-nary, which combines all the qualities of a BB cream with another hot beauty trend, stem cell therapy. And, like all of Juice Beauty’s products, it’s organic, to boot. This new beauty must-have is called Stem Cellular Repair CC Cream, and it’s the latest addition to Juice Beauty’s three-item Stem Cellular Repair collection, which includes a booster serum, moisturizer and eye treatment.
“This product is a 12-in-1 multi-tasker,†says Jackie Duda, Juice Beauty’s managing director for operations, who was in Manila recently to launch the CC cream. “We know our customers, especially here in the Philippines, love the Stem Cell collection. This is really special because it combines a proprietary blend of fruit stem cells with vitamin C and injects it into a resvera-trol-rich grapeseed base to provide DNA repair. And it comes in two amazing shades: Natural Glow and Warm Glow.â€
Here’s what this ultimate CC cream can do:
1. Repairs DNA damage
2. Evens skin tone and texture
3. Firms and improves elasticity
4. Reduces fine lines and wrinkles
5. Creates a radiant, glowing complexion
6. Balances skin tone
7. Rich in antioxidants
8. Protects with chemical-free SPF 30
9. Mineral-tinted coverage
10. Moisturizes with hyaluronic acid
11. Skin-perfecting color
12. Suited to all skin types.
“We’ve really power-packed this product with all the amazing ingredients that you read about for brands with many, many more dollars,†Duda says. “I’ve gotten really interesting feedback from people who were lifetime users of very high-end, very amazing, very expensive brands, who said, ‘I feel better, I feel like I’m glowing, like my complexion doesn’t look as dull.’â€
The CC cream also smells heavenly, like lemon verbena, and the packaging is also special: the tube has a clear stripe on it so you can see the color of the product inside, which is dis-pensed through a metal tip. Duda says they wanted to give their customers a nice, cooling experience “so you’ll notice it’s got this fun applicator that’s very cooling to massage the lotion in. We recommend the customer put some on their hand, and then dab it all over the face and massage in with this applicator.â€
For the perfect, easy face on the go, Stem Cellular Repair CC Cream is perfectly finished with Juice Beauty’s mineral Refining Finishing powder, which you can swirl on with their su-per-soft, synthetic kabuki brush (they don’t use animal hair, of course).
“Refining Finishing powder is an amazing powder that’s got organic tapioca powder, acai, grapeseed, bamboo, strawberry, raspberry, goji berry and blueberry oils,†Duda says. “It’s really lightweight and doesn’t seep into wrinkles or crevices the way other powders do, and it has a wonderful aroma from all the fantastic ingredients.â€
Aside from the CC cream I’m also obsessed with Alicia Silverstone’s five-item collection for Juice Beauty. The militantly vegan celebrity mentioned the brand on her blog, got a lot of positive feedback and actually reached out to the company.
“It’s an organic partnership,†Duda says, with pun fully intended. “Alicia met with our founder and CEO Karen Behnke at an Elle magazine shoot, they believe in the same things, so we created a line specifically for her. She was involved in every single thing: cleanser, moisturizer, powder, lipstick, and facial highlighter. She’s very natural, so these are the five items you can really use.â€
Since Silverstone “lives and breathes eco-friendly,†the collection is totally vegan, with cute pink packaging made out of paper and recycled water bottles. “It doesn’t feel super-sophisticated but that’s the intent — it’s more whimsical. We found that the (one-shade-fits-all) lipstick and powder do work for almost everybody.â€
