A night of fashion, culture and peace
MANILA, Philippines - The cultural show — Hand in Hand, One Big Family — organized by Rotary Club of Makati chaired by RCM Peace president Reuben Valerio and Ann Mimi Valerio was a showcase of the talents of 28 Rotary Clubs and six other organizations.
There were three segments — the Fashion Parade of Nations, Evolution of Philippine Costumes, and Parade of Peace Presidents with the D3830 District Governor — each ending with a curtain call. The costumes were rich and culturally engaging. Those in the Parade of Nations gave the audience a glimpse of uncommon national dresses such as those of Bhutan and Tibet, while the parade of Philippine costumes reopened our eyes to the regional diversities that enrich our national culture. Sonny Tambunting Jr. of RC Makati Southwest came between the two cultural segments to sing two songs.
At show’s end, organizers and “models’ were all smiles as they heaved a sigh of delight at having pulled off a first in the district, the coming together of 28 Rotary Clubs — 24 in District 3830: RC Alabang, RC Alabang Centerpoint, RC Las Piñas; RC Makati Central, RC Makati Dasmariñas, RC E-Club Global City, RC Makati Forbes Park, RC Makati Jose P.
