Golden Globes Red Carpet: Tina Fey and Amy Poehler kill it at the Golden Globes

Ladies be stealing the show.

In a brilliant casting move, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association cast Tina Fey and Amy Poehler to host the second biggest awards show of the year. (The first being FAMAS, duh).

“It’s been a great year for women!” Fey opens, noting Lena Dunham who won twice — snagging best actress in a comedy series, while Girls earned best comedy series.

With Kathryn Bigelow nominated for best director for the critical darling Zero Dark Thirty (which lost to the competent Argo) and Dunham set to win every category ever, Fey had a point. Which Poehler was quick to concur with after President Clinton’s introduction to Lincoln.

“Wow, what an exciting special guest!” Poehler declared. “That was Hillary Clinton’s husband!”

Not that chicks weren’t part of the jokes. At one point, Fey turned to the audience, pointed to Taylor Swift and announced, “You stay away from Michael J. Fox’s son!” (The Fox spawn was a Mr. Golden Globe.)

Jodie Foster, on stage to accept a lifetime achievement award, argued for privacy yet took the time to come out to the world as an out-and-proud lesbian. Most striking: her friends and peers, unsurprised by the news yet supportive.

When the telecast ended, the hosts gave a cheer and announced — fake drunk-like — â€œWe’re going home with Jodie Foster!”

Here’s a roundup of the duo’s best lines:

Amy Poehler: “Only at the Golden Globes do the beautiful people of film rub shoulders with the rat-faced people of television.”

Amy Poehler: “I haven’t really been following the controversy over Zero Dark Thirty, but when it comes to torture, I trust the lady who spent three years married to James Cameron.”

Amy Poehler: “We have no intention of being edgy or offensive tonight because as Ricky Gervais found out the hard way, when you run afoul of the Hollywood Foreign Press, they make you host this show two more times.”

Tina Fey, after Lena Dunham’s speech citing her as an influence: “Congratulations, Lena, I’m glad we got you through middle school.”

Tina Fey on Anne Hathaway’s Fantine: “I have not seen someone so totally alone and abandoned since you were on stage with James Franco at the Oscars.”

Amy Poehler: “Ang Lee has been nominated for the Life of Pi, which is what I’m gonna call the six weeks after I take this dress off!”

Amy Poehler: “Meryl Streep is not here tonight. She has the flu — and I hear she’s amazing in it.”

Tina Fey: “Quentin T

arantino is here — the star of all my sexual nightmares.”
