It’s so fluffy – and it’s Jimmy Choo
MANILA, Philippines - Jimmy Choo collaborated with contemporary artist Rob Pruitt in creating highly collectible pieces that are whimsical and highly original — integrating Pruitt’s sarcastic wit and Jimmy Choo’s iconic glamour.
From glittering panda bear paintings to a silvered Andy Warhol monument, Pruitt is known for producing art that is both playful and profound.
Referencing Pruitt’s art influences, the capsule collection has a whimsical feel, incorporating some of his recurring artistic themes.
“The collection reflects everything that captivated us about collaborating with Pruitt: his energy, use of color, and the festive exuberance of his prints and materials. There were elements in his work that reminded us in subtle ways of the Jimmy Choo design iconography,” enthuses creative directors Sandra Choi and Simon Holloway.
The collection features Pruitt’s signature glitter zebras and pandas presented in surprising and often contrasting combinations. Shoes and bags feature degrade leather linings patterned with angel and devil pandas symbolizing the dual personalities of the Jimmy Choo woman: the classic good girl/bad girl double play.
Check out the jelly sandals, glitter zebra ballet pumps, boudoir mule with marabou pom pom, and glitter zebra sandals. Wallets and key chains have panda charms and patent degrade leopard print. Glitter, a recurring material for Pruitt and Choo, plays the role of seduction.
“The panda is a recurring image seen throughout the body of my artwork. It’s a symbol that reminds us both to tread lightly and to appreciate the adorable. It represents the harmony of yin and yang,” explains Pruitt.
Iconic Jimmy Choo styles including the Anouk pump are reimagined featuring Pruitt’s signature use of degrade color in vibrant orange, pink, and yellow hues of mirrored leather overlaid with French lace.
The highly collectible item in the collection is the limited-edition pair of angel and devil panda minaudieres — each featuring more than 11,000 hand-applied crystals. Each set, one of a limited edition of 14, will be numbered and signed by the artist.
In the Philippines, Jimmy Choo is exclusively distributed by Stores Specialissts Inc. (SSI) and is located at Greenbelt 4, Ayala Center, Makati City.
