Hardys Wine holds dinner and auction to raise funds for FEED
MANILA, Philippines - Forth & Tay is hosting the Hardys Wine Dinner & Auction at the Turf Room of the Manila Polo Club tomorrow, Nov. 22 at 6:30 p.m. The evening, which is limited in seating, consists of a four-course dinner with wine pairings to be followed by a live auction. Several of Hardys award-winning wines will be served and auctioned at the event.
Also, take this rare opportunity to dine with Bill Hardy, corporate oenologist, brand ambassador and fifth-generation descendant of Thomas Hardy, founder of Hardys Wines. Started in 1853, Hardys is one of Australia’s pioneering wineries and the world’s fifth most powerful wine brand, which has recently received the highest possible winery rating of five red stars in James Halliday’s 2013 Australian Wine Companion.
Over the past decade, Hardys has been awarded more than 2,800 international and national wine show awards from the prestigious Decanter World Wine Awards, International Wine Challenge, and International Wine & Spirit Competition, as well as several other respected Australian wine awards.
Some of the award-winning wines to be served at the four-course dinner include Hardys Oomoo Adelaide Hills Chardonnay 2007 (winner of one silver and five bronze medals, including the 2009 International Wine Challenge); HRB/D651 Chardonnay 2010 (94 points James Halliday; one silver, three bronze and three gold medals, including the 2012 International Wine Challenge); the much-awarded Eileen Hardy Shiraz 2005 (gold medal 2011 International Wine Challenge, silver medal 2011 Decanter World Wine Awards, silver medal 2011 International Wine & Spirit Competition, and bronze medal 2010 International Wine Challenge, among others); and a scarce 15-year-old Hardys 1997 Vintage Port (one gold, 10 silver and 21 bronze medals).
Several lots of the Hardys portfolio — from award-winning luxury wines to everyday enjoyable wines, as well as authographed memorabilia — will be up for grabs at the live auction following dinner. Among these are the Magnum bottle of Eileen Hardy Shiraz 1997 (this flagship Shiraz won the gold medal at the 2000 International Wines & Spirits competition, among others); select bottles of Eileen Hardy Chardonnay 2003 (gold medal 2006 International Wine Challenge, among others); Eileen Hardy Shiraz 2003 (one gold, four silver, eight bronze); HRB/D638 Chardonnay 2007 (one gold, three silver, four bronze); HRB /D636 Cabernet Sauvignon 2006 (90 points James Halliday, 8 bronze medals).
Part of the proceeds will go to FEED (Fostering Education & Environment for Development), an NGO dedicated to the sustainable development, preservation and rehabilitation of forests, farms and the environment in the Philippines (www.feed.org.ph). FEED provides deserving, underprivileged individuals with scholarships to conduct research in the fields of agriculture, forestry, environmental sciences and food security. FEED will also be auctioning a stunning pointillist art piece by artist Nena Saguil; an iconic fashion item by wrap artist Dita Sandico Ong; and a contemporary landscape photograph in Rococo frame by Álon Pte Ltd (Water & Lifestyle Advocacy) from Hamburg-Kennedy Photographs, a NY-based philanthropic private art advisor.
Tickets to the Hardys Wine dinner & auction are P2,500 per person.
