Tory Burch defines innocent sex appeal with a polished look
MANILA, Philippines - Inspired by the idea of a prim girl who’s under the spell of the wrong kind of guy, Tory Burch’s fall 2012 collection makes a strong statement with bags and pieces with subversive undertones: fitted silhouettes; dresses with nipped waists; snug knits, and a lot of leather. Four lovely and stylish women show us how to exude innocent sex appeal with polished looks.
Tagged as the “Courtroom Crushie,” Karen Jimeno is currently a law school teacher at CEU Makati and San Beda Graduate Law School Manila. She starts her day by working out before going to the office. Aside from her looks and obvious wit, she knows how to fly single-engine planes, engages in outdoor sports during the weekends, and comes home to a loving and understanding husband who shares her passion for traveling. When asked to describe her personal style, she said, “My primary consideration all the time is comfort and, of course, efficiency. I love dresses because I don’t have to think about what to mix and match anymore. There are brands that I like seeing on the runway and magazines, which I know I can’t wear to work; I’d stand out too much! That’s why I like Tory Burch: it’s stylish, it’s fashionable but at the same time wearable.”
“I love my job, it is what motivates me. I meet interesting people all the time, learn so much every day; I’m forced to keep abreast of what is happening not only in the Philippines but also globally. I get to travel,” says Leigh Carcel, investment banker for Deutsche Bank. Busy training for an upcoming marathon in November, she’s a firm believer that we have to create a good balance between relationships, work and personal interests. Not one who thinks too much about what she wears, she knows what looks good on her: something that’s not too trendy but elegant. “I like Tory Burch because she designs for the elegant but modern woman whose lifestyle involves travel, career, or just hanging out.”
Mother of two, wife, TV personality, editor in chief of Depot magazine, entrepreneur and interior decorator Marilen Faustino-Montenegro describes her personal style as classic with a twist. Evident in the way she dresses and in the way she designs, she prefers simple but mixes them with interesting accent pieces. “Tory Burch is elegant and classic with a stylish twist.” Juggling her career and family, her projects as interior decorator keep her busy but she still gets flexible time because she manages her own company. She spends a lot of time running her household and taking care of her babies, and reserves her evenings especially for her husband. She browses the Internet for design inspirations, catches up with the world through news and social media sites, and loves getting massages at home.
Xandra Rocha, owner of Pinkerton Ice Cream, started her business at a young age. With restaurants all over Manila lining up to order from her scrumptious dessert menu, she kids that she needs to clone herself all the time. “You have to love what you’re doing because it can be very tiring if you don’t enjoy your work. Don’t be scared of competition; be one step ahead of them and be original. As long as you have a good product, it will sell.”
Xandra’s personal style is classic and vintage and she feels that Tory Burch is a perfect match for her — full of personality, life of the party yet still very ladylike.
In the Philippines, Tory Burch is exclusively distributed by Stores Specialists, Inc. (SSI) and is located at Greenbelt 5 and Rustan’s Makati.
