The secret to celebrity legs
Hi Regina,
What’s the secret to celebrity legs? Why do they always look so amazing in short skirts and tiny shorts? Can mere human beings like us pull that effect off?
Raissa
Some of them were just born with the legs of a supermodel, but for those of us who didn’t win the genetic lottery, heels will help give legs the illusion of length. (Pumps are your best bet, since ankle straps can sometimes ruin the lengthening effect.)
As for the gorgeous, gleaming look their stems always seem to sport, it definitely helps to keep your legs hydrated. Lotion may be enough to give you that slight sheen, but if you’re determined to look like you could be a backup dancer in a hip-hop video (laughs), most stylists and makeup artists swear by Benefit’s Bathina. It’s a subtle, luminizing body balm that gives off the perfect glow when light hits it. Buff it down the center of your legs (not all the way around!) in circular motions to blend. This will make your legs look extra-slender. You can also use it on your collarbones, shoulders and arms (anywhere you want to look a little more luminous) if you’re wearing a sleeveless or strapless top or dress. You may not notice a huge difference when you look at yourself, but when the photos start popping up on Facebook? Wow!

Too Young To Wear Big Jewelry?
Dear Lucy,
Am I too young to wear big jewelry? I am in my 20s but I am told that wearing bold jewelry will age me. Do you agree?
You once posted on Instagram shoes that you said were made in Marikina. They looked so nice and fashionable. Could you share where it is available?
Sandra
I don’t think bold jewelry will age you. I think your choice of accessories should be your own and if you want big and bold, go for it! Let no one tell you otherwise. Fashion should be fun and personal. When I was in my 20s I already wore big jewelry. I felt the small ones would just disappear on my frame because I’m tall.
Re the shoes, those are from Lupe Saenz. The styles are beautiful, the fit is comfortable and at par with the imported brands. These shoes are beautiful as they are kind to your feet. They’re available at Bonne Bouche in Greenbelt 5.

Smooth, Flawless Under-Eye Concealer
Hi Rissa,
I’m a college graduate and have morena skin like yours, I suppose.
I was just wondering, of all the products on the market today, which of them is the best concealer? I want to know what concealer or makeup would hide under-eye darkness while giving it a smooth finish. I’ve tried several products that look cake-y and unnatural. I want a natural and smooth finish as much as possible. I would really appreciate it if you could help me with this. Thank you.
Raccoon-Eyed Girl
To be honest, I’m not very dependent on concealers. Like you, I hate the cake-y and unnatural look. Powder foundations with good coverage (like MAC Studio Fix and Make Up For Ever Duo Mat) have always saved the day for me. When I don’t get enough sleep and my eye bags are dark and puffy, I pick up my powder brush and dust any of these two powders under my eyes and it’s bye-bye bags for me! But on days when I need extra help, I really like Mac Prep + Prime Highlighter in the shade Bright Forecast (which I’ve recommended before). I haven’t found a concealer so good that it would be worth buying again … until I came across K-Palette’s Zero Kuma Cover Control Concealer (available at Beauty Bar). Since I gave birth, I haven’t had a decent night’s sleep for the past two weeks because I need to wake up every two hours. The one time I went out for dinner, I used K-Palette’s Zero Kuma Cover Control Concealer and I got so many compliments on how “fresh” I looked. I realized that this concealer was a new must in my kikay kit! Unlike other concealers that “crack” at the end of the day from smiling or laughing, this remained smooth and flawless and made the eyes look like you had just put fresh makeup on. I also loved how this brightened the eye area and made me look like I got a good sleep — even if I didn’t! The concealer comes in three shades: natural beige, yellow beige, and orange beige. For my morena skin tone, the shade natural beige worked wonders for me.
