Chuvaness styles Muji's latest collection

- The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The metro’s fashion set got together to celebrate functionality and simplicity as Stores Specialists, Inc. presented Muji’s spring/summer 2012 collection “The New Life.”

Muji ensures the use of natural, quality materials that have a vast range of functions to offer versatility. From garments to home and bed fabrics and accessories, the Muji spring/summer 2012 collection maximizes the benefits of linen, silk and organic cotton, which perfectly suit the heat and humidity of the season. Linen is strong against wear and tear with good absorption and anti-bacterial properties, while silk has a soft texture that also offers excellent moisture absorption plus luxurious comfort.

Organic cotton is the core material in most items in the collection. The excellent elasticity of organic cotton makes it ideal for thin layers and casual tops and bottoms. Its versatility comes out when blended with silk to achieve a lush, elegant sheen on the surface but with the relaxed fit of organic cotton. As it is grown in farms that utilize natural methods without the use of agrochemicals, its production is designed to be safe and friendly for both the environment and the farmers.

Styled by fashion blogger and pronounced lover of anything Japanese, Cecile Van Straten, a.k.a. Chuvaness, the latest collection of Muji showcased its minimalist approach to fashion. With neutral tones as main colors, Cecile highlighted looks that are sophisticated yet practical for individuals who love a no-fuss, stylish vibe.

To keep the event more exciting, Muji raffled off two round-trip economy tickets to Japan via Delta Airlines to their guests and loyal shoppers on the night of the event.

The affair was attended by Katsutoshi Suzuki, business development unit manager of Muji’s Overseas Operations Division and SSI’s Catherine Huang, together with Manila’s social circuit, including Cecile’s husband Jeroen Van Straten, Tessa Prieto Valdes, Patty Laurel with fiancée Patrick Filart, Kelly Misa, Nicole Hernandez delos Angeles, Tetchie Hagedorn with daughters Emilia and Clara, Laureen Uy, Robbie Becroft, Albert Martinez with wife Liezl and daughter Alyssa, Joey Mead King, Miriam Quiambao, JC Buendia, Ito Curata, Bob Miller, accessories designer Janina Dizon with daughter Juliet, Cedric Cid, and Karen Pamintuan, to name a few.

More than just a fashion label, Muji promotes sensible lifestyle choices with classic, premium-quality items that function and serve its customers and their homes well.

As another conscious step to strengthen its eco-friendly efforts, Muji supports the Fairtrade Organization, an international body that promotes the welfare of small-scale producers and farm workers of coffee and tea in developing countries. Through this initiative, customers can enjoy the good life and extend this experience to the thousands of Fairtrade farmers all over the world.

In the Philippines, Muji is exclusively distributed by Stores Specialists, Inc. (SSI) and is located at Bonifacio High Street, Rockwell Power Plant Mall, Greenbelt 3 and SM Mall of Asia. Muji is open for a limited period only at Alabang Town Center, Rustan’s Makati and 158 Designers’ Blvd at The Podium.
