Living on the wedge

MANILA, Philippines - Walk tall this summer with the latest collection of wonderful wedges from Parisian, SM’s iconic shoe brand.

Wedges have been around since the 16th century, but it was Italian designer Salvatore Ferragamo who made it fashionable in the modern times. He designed the orthopedic wedge in 1935 and the wedge heel in 1936, and the rest, as they say, is history.

With a sole that’s solid and stacked higher toward the heel that accounts for its casual, effortless vibe and knock-around comfort, wedges have become a popular shoe style through the ages. Height-flattering wedge heels offer more support than any high-heeled shoes. Balance is easier on a wedge and it offers more arch support.

Parisian offers a wide assortment of the quintessential fashion pick of the season, with wedges given the edge by modern style-setters like Princess Katherine. Wedge into the season with pretty rubber-soled pairs, bright, printed ones, and most especially, charming espadrille wedges.

Today’s way of the wedge is all about unexpected mixes: leather, printed fabrics, patent, colored uppers with fun details like bows, ankle straps, and T-straps. The best thing about wedges is that they are flattering and great for showing off well-toned legs when worn with short skirts, short shorts, and tiny dresses, as well as your favorite faded jeans, maxi skirts, and pretty much most anything else.

The Parisian Wedge collection is available at the Ladies Shoes section of SM Department Store.
