Patrick Rosas: Putting the best face forward

- Bea J. Ledesma -

MANILA, Philippines - For many, Fashion Watch is held in high esteem not only due to its bellwether status in local fashion but for the bold-faced names working tirelessly behind the scenes. With its roster of capable designers, the Thursday show at the Makati Shangri-La is heralded as one of the better-attended events, with ladies who lunch and friends of fashion snapping up the designer garb as soon as it hits the floor.

That’s no doubt due to the two folks who work tirelessly at the helm: Inno Sotto and Patrick Rosas.

Rosas, along with his talented team, is responsible for every madeup face that makes its circuitous route along the lobby. The makeup artist, who got his start “during the progressive Ramos years” as he puts it, is as famous for his work as the famous names that make up his impressive clientele (Gretchen Barretto and Josie Natori are just some of them). The STAR sat down with Manila’s most famous makeup artist (he even has one book under his name) to talk trends (he considers a gilded futuristic look, which he playfully dubs “Battlestar Galactica,” the most popular look of the season) and talents.
