Christmas comes to Centris
MANILA, Philippines - Shoppers can get ready for a merry countdown with a series of events as Christmas comes to Eton Centris.
On Friday, Dec. 2 at 6 p.m., Centris Walk lights up its giant Christmas tree to usher in the holiday season. Its 32-ft.-tall tree teems with multi-colored lights and trimmings to keep this season aglow. The internationally acclaimed University of the East Chorale serenades the public with Christmas carols. A sing-along — from the slow, sentimental ones to the merry carols — can relive fond memories of past Christmases with loved ones.
What’s a holiday season without ol’ St. Nick? Yes, Santa Claus is coming to Centris Walk on Fridays and Saturdays from Dec. 2 to 24 at 6 to 9 p.m. Kids will have the chance to sit on his lap, have their pictures taken and “Meet and Greet Santa.”
Hear “The Sounds of Christmas” as Christmas carols fill the air at Centris Walk. Performances include classical Christmas songs duet by Raymond Roldan and Jeanelle Bihag on Dec. 3 and 9 from 6 to 9 p.m.; Velvet Mood Ensemble on Dec. 10 from 6 to 9 p.m. and various performances from Christmas choirs on Dec. 16, 17, 23, 24 and 30 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Centris Walk also gives a whole new meaning to the season by initiating the Simbang Gabi sa Centris — the traditional nine-day novena Masses at 8:30 p.m. from Dec. 16 to Dec. 23 and 6 p.m. on Dec. 24.
Centris Walk offers an alternative shopping sanctuary with its Christmas bazaars from Dec. 14 to Jan. 2 from 4 p.m. to 6 a.m., plus the famous SIDCOR market (every Friday and Saturday from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. and Sunday from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.). Shoppers can fill their bags with food items, novelties and knick-knacks, home decor, pet accessories, clothes and more. For the health-conscious, there’s the Food Bowl Night Market, a treasure trove of organically-grown fresh produce, bio-dynamic and natural products. It is held every Friday and Saturday from 4 p.m. to 12 midnight.
