I am a sucker for fashion shows. Since shock value is not my thing, I believe the featured styles should highglight a woman’s looks and body.
My long-time friend Inno Sotto and the late Richard Tann started the Fashion Watch series in 1996 and proved to be extremely popular from the start. No less than CNN’s fashion maven Elsa Klensch featured creations from these shows and beamed them globally showing that Philippine fashion had hit the international scene with a bang. This season’s Fashion Watch Quartet for spring/summer 2011 at the Makati Shangri-La Hotel featured the country’s top designers: Ito Curata, OJ Hofer, JC Buendia, Jerome Lorico, Ivar Aseron, Francis Libiran, Len Nepomuceno, Ferdi Abuel, Jun Escario, Philip Rodriguez, Patrice Diaz, Dennis Lustico, Joel Escober, James Reyes, Norman Noriega, Joey Samson and Jojie Lloren. I not only enjoyed watching the latest designs of this talented lot, but found that many of the ladies in the audience (including a few gents) were extremely fashionable and worth taking a second look at.
