MANILA, Philippines - This October, the Philippine edition of Town & Country gathers 50 of society’s new movers and shakers, all under 50 years old. Town & Country editor in chief Yvette Fernandez dubs these powerful men and women as “The New Guard.”
“[They are] the present and future ruling class. People who will soon be or already are calling the shots that make a difference in society,” Fernandez says.
Making it to the list are Donnie Tantoco, president of Shopwise and Rustan’s Supermarkets; Edgar Sia II, the youngest Filipino billionaire on the Forbes’ 2011 richest list; Annette Gozon-Abrogar, head of both GMA Films and GMA Worldwide; Eric Cua and Tim Yap, owners of Encore, and Republiq; Isaac Belmonte, Kevin Belmonte, Miguel Belmonte, and QC Vice Mayor Joy Belmonte-Alimurung, who have followed in their parents’ footsteps by excelling in publishing, real estate, and politics; and Xandra Ramos Padilla, who helps purchase books for over 150 National Book Stores, Powerbooks, and Bestsellers. Padilla also graces the cover of this month’s issue.
Town & Country also pays tribute to Chona Kasten, a timeless icon of style and elegance. Fernandez sits down with fashion designer Patrice Ramos Diaz, who talks about her fashion muse and her most memorable wedding story. Town & Country also visits the home of famed designer Christian Espiritu.
