The call of fall

MANILA, Philippines - The new season calls for a few changes in your closet. Call It Spring’s fall/winter 2011 collection brings your shoe rack and accessories counter to three new places sartorially different from one another. Now, all you have to do is to choose your own stylish adventure among the three.

Call It Spring’s autumn/winter 2011 campaign is inspired by an exploratory adventure in the nearby woods, a moonlit party in the evergreens and a romantic kiss by a winter bonfire. Imagine a rustic chalet where old rock records are spinning on a vinyl player, a dusty ukulele simultaneously being strummed along with the music, and dancing heels tapping against wooden floors.

The first collection, British Country, combines the old and the earthy with a mix of now-ness, layering eras for a unique approach. Think riding and desert boots, brogues, penny loafers, Mary Janes and Oxfords. Key fabrics are suede, leather tweed, tapestry and leopard prints. And then there are satchels, fedoras and vintage jewelry. Tones and shades of deep black, neutral tan, Bordeaux, smooth cognac, and classic camel create a stunning Brit palette.

Gotham City, the brand’s second fall/winter 2011 collection, has a palette that is simple and basic — from icy white to gloomy black with hints of tan — but the silhouettes the collection takes is where it makes a statement. Sculptured platforms, chunky heels, fabrics of suede and skins of snake give the entire collection a punk-fuelled twist. Brushed metal hardware and chains give a little biker vibe while engineer and combat boots create a military appeal. The style looks dark and delinquent for men and almost dominatrix for women.

Lastly, the Northern Folk collection features shearling-lined wedge lace-ups, checked and Scandi-patterns and a lot of chunky knits. It fuses warmth and comfort with a chic lumberjack-meets-city-slicker style for women. For men, practicality is mixed with urban hipness in work and duck boots, and alpine-styled shoes. Textures of brushed leather, sheepskin and felt fabric come into play in a wonderful autumn palette of brilliant and mulberry red, and chestnut brown.

Either you get rebelliously clad, take inspiration from the prim and proper Brits or the Scandinavian nomads at the north of the Arctic circle, create your own look and choose your own adventure this season with Call It Spring’s fall/winter 2011 collection.
