Oil right for dry skin and scalp

Dear Lucy,

I have very dry skin. I followed the tip you shared before, of using oil and lotion after a bath and it really works. I was just wondering if maybe you have recent finds that you can share with me again? I really like bath products and I have my favorites from different brands. What are yours?

Reanne

Like you, I like oils — from the reliable Johnson’s Baby Oil to Neutrogena’s Sesame Oil, Body Shop’s Olive Oil to Bench’s Papaya Dry Oil Mist, but a current find that I would love to share with you is Morocco Argan Oil. This oil is luxurious and makes skin feel like silk. I love it and I have hoarded it for fear Rustan’s will run out of it.

This oil really moisturizes, but skin never feels greasy. It is from the fruits of the Argania spinosa which grows in the endangered Argan forest of Southwestern Morocco, which is currently being protected and cultivated by UNESCO. Because it is rich in vitamins and antioxidants, this oil is heavily coveted for beauty’s use. It can be used for the face, hair, and body and has been found to repair damaged skin, combat premature aging, and restore nutritive skin. It is known as the “wonder oil” as it clears skin, reduces wrinkles, treats dry scalp, and promotes even skin tone in the body.

What are you waiting for? This oil makes a nice present, for yourself and/or all your girlfriends!

At Long Lash, a Mascara that washers off easily!

The lash word: Maybelline Magnum Super Film Mascara (P399) combines the best of both worlds — Maybelline’s legendary long-lasting mascara power plus the convenience of easy slide-off removal.

Dear Rissa,

I saw on your Twitter that you dislike waterproof mascaras because they are difficult to take off. If so, please share what mascara you use in our humid weather. Would love to know. Also, can you recommend a good face powder that gives ample coverage, but will prevent me from looking oily?

MS. Shine G.

Yes, I hate waterproof mascaras that are a pain to remove at the end of the day. The constant tugging is a recipe for wrinkles! In fact, Maybelline was my most hated mascara because they were notorious for being difficult to remove. No matter how much eye makeup remover I’d use, they were just so darn difficult to remove. My co-models and I would joke that they would last up to three days, even on the beach!

But ironically, my favorite mascara now is Maybelline’s Magnum Super Film Mascara (only P399 at leading department stores and health and beauty stores nationwide). I can’t tell you how happy I am that Maybelline came out with this new mascara. It gives you volume, length, and long-lasting curls and yet it is smudge-proof, sweat-proof, tear-resistant, and sebum-resistant. Best of all, it washes off so easily before you go to sleep! With just warm water (or by simply washing your face), it slides off the lashes so quickly for easy removal at night. I don’t even need an eye makeup remover anymore whenever I use this!  It combines the best of both worlds — Maybelline’s legendary long-lasting mascara power plus the convenience of easy slide-off removal. It’s the perfect mascara for our humid weather (and for those late nights when we’re just too tired to struggle with mascara removal!) I love it so much that I’m using this for my wedding!

As for face powder, I’ve always liked Maybelline Clear Smooth. I discovered it years ago because some makeup artists would use this backstage during fashion shows — it’s one of the best for reducing oiliness and shine. I’m currently using Maybelline’s Clear Smooth All In One Shine-Free Foundation with SPF25/PA++ (only P249) as my everyday face powder. After applying a moisturizing sunblock on my face, I just lightly pat this all over. It’s incredibly lightweight and gives an ultra smooth poreless finish. And yes, it covers even blemishes! Despite our crazy weather of hot and cold, this face powder controls the oil on my face and keeps it shine-free. Big bonus: Even if you touch up, it will not tolerate buildup, cake, and crack. I absolutely adore the refill size — it’s great for touchups during nights out or big events and it’s the only face powder I know that perfectly fits even in the smallest evening bag!

Handy Tip For Aging Hands

Dear Ms. Tingting,

I’m 41 and I notice the skin on my hands is thinning out.  Do you know of remedies for this?

Agnes

The condition of your hands could reflect your age. Invest in an ultra-rich hand cream to use in the morning and at night. Massage with a little water to lock in moisture. Look for a cream with hazel nut, retinol, and hyaluronic acid. Try ZO Skin Health Oraser Overnight Hand Recovery or any hand cream at Healthy Options.
