Pond's sets the gold standard in anti-aging skincare

Dear Rissa,

I just want you to know how effective you are as a beauty columnist. After I finish writing this, I will be on my way to Makati to do an errand for my mother-in-law. She requested me to go to Adora in Greenbelt 5 to buy the Becca glossy lip tint, which you recommended in your column recently. We also use Mestiza papaya soap (for the past three years) because you recommended it. I have also been using the Pond’s Age Miracle line, which you endorse! Each product we tried brought about favorable results, so my mother-in-law and I can attest to your credibility as a beauty specialist. So keep it up!

We are expecting more great recommendations for your future columns. As a favor, I hope you can print this message. I’m sure my mother-in-law Zarah Pastoral will be thrilled once she figures out your column is about her!

Michelle Angeli Dumlao-Pastoral

Thank you for this heartwarming letter! What I love about this column is it allows me to have a voice, share my experiences and a thing or two about looking good and feeling good, and it empowers readers to make an informed decision on the fashion and beauty products they buy. Thank you for sharing your Style SOS. experience with me.

Since you’re a Pond’s user already, I’d like to recommend Pond’s to your mother-in-law, too. Do tell her to try Pond’s Gold Radiance. This is one of the breakthrough products of Pond’s. Most women think that wrinkles are the only sign of aging. Fact is, it’s not just wrinkles women battle as they get older. Even if your skin is wrinkle-free, dull lackluster skin, age spots, pigmentation, and uneven skin tone also make us look old! Thanks to the best anti-aging ingredients and real gold micro-particles, Pond’s Gold Radiance fights all these signs of aging so that we can look and feel younger, and bring back the radiance of our youth.

I’ve tried this range myself — the Precious Youth Serum and Radiance Revealed Cleansing Mousse are my favorites. I love how the serum hydrated my skin and made it so supple and younger-looking. To me, it brought my skin back to how it was like before I became a mom. It also gives an instant glow to the skin! The cleansing mousse is great because it doesn’t dry the skin but effectively gets rid of dirt, oil, and even makeup! I swear this made my skin feel super smooth and moisturized. I was so amazed that one time, I tried using it on my body, too!

Now is also a great time to try Pond’s Gold Radiance. Starting today, buy P1,000 worth of Pond’s Gold Radiance products and you get a beautiful gold Aranaz hand painted bamboo clutch with mother-of-pearl detail as a complimentary gift. This promo is available in all leading department stores and drugstores.

How to get prfect brows

Dear Ms. Tingting,

I’d like to ask for advice on how to get perfect brows, like where to start, how to shape, and where to end.

Angie Juloya

The time-honored tradition of measuring with a pencil is a safe way to start.  Hold a pencil vertically against the side of your nose (not your nostril!) and use it as a guide to determine where each brow should begin — on the side of the pencil closest to your nose. Mark the spot with an eyebrow pencil or eyeliner, so you can refer to it when you can start plucking.

When it comes to brows, thin is not in these days.  Find a picture of a model or an actress whose brows you like and try to copy the shape. Pluck only one hair at a time and step back, frequently looking in the mirror to assess your work. Another option is to buy a kit that comes with stencils, directions, and tools.

Are your brows a bit sparse? Chanel likes to boost skimpy arches with brow powder. Pick a shade that’s lighter than your natural color and fill in uneven areas with short, feathery strokes. Try Chanel Perfect Brows, which you can custom-blend to achieve your ideal color.

Where to end? Pivot a pencil so it runs from underneath your nose and across your cheek, lining up diagonally with the outer corner of your eye. Your brow should extend to this point, if not a little bit farther. A common mistake is to make your brows too short. If you do, fill them in with brow powder or pencil.

Chanel products are available at Rustan’s.

The long and short of sexy dressing

Dear Lucy

My husband is quite conservative, but I really like to wear nice dresses. I am still in my late 20s, but I feel dowdy in anything that is longer than a mini! I also do not like anything so loose. I want my clothes to hug my body, but he is always saying it is too tight or too short or too revealing. When should I wear these? When I am too old and wrinkled?

Jessica

Knee-length dresses will not make you look dowdy! Knee-length dresses are lovely! A knee-length skirt can look very chic. Experiment with plaid prints, lace with nude lining, ivory silk with embroidered details, and wear these with high-heeled pumps and peep toes. Joey Samson is wonderful at executing these.

As far as tight clothes are concerned, you can still flatter your figure by embracing draping. It is a no-brainer when it comes to sexy fluidity. A great plus is that draping allows you to breathe and remember, comfort can be the greatest luxury in fashion!
