MANILA, Philippines - Less is indeed more. This is the message Oxygen shouted out during the recent Philippine Fashion Week.
“This season, we want to show that the perfect look can be achieved through clean, posh designs,” says Oxygen brand director Jeffrey Bascon.
Oxygen’s fall/winter and spring/summer collections focused on highlighting layers rather than the usual mashing up of colors. Spectators were struck with the reintroduction of the brand’s sophisticated minimalist designs.
Starting the show with their holiday 2010 collection, Oxygen cracked the runway with monochromatic layers. Ranging from their oversized jackets and drop-crotch pants to dresses revealing just enough for women; zipper vests and drop-crotch bottoms to uniquely structured jackets for men, the pieces exude strong silhouettes that combine edge and ease resulting in a polished and sophisticated streetwear.
The second half revealed Oxygen’s spring/summer 2011 collection. For those who want to layer while staying cool and minimal, the brand has sheer designs for a sunny weather. The altered designs, on the other hand, are about deconstruction.
Far from the common perception that simple is easy, the brand crossed lines and came up with fashion-forward creations that perfectly fits Oxygen’s character.
In the midst of a season of loud colors and bold patterns, Oxygen proves that, time and again, less is still more and fashionable.
