Fashion and art come full circle at The Shang

-

MANILA, Philippines - Premier lifestyle destination Shangri-La Plaza recently presented “The 5th Power: The Art of Fashion,” a visual feast celebrates the power of youth via a unique fashion installation and a sale on brands at the Youth Zone at the 5th level of the mall.

Fashionphiles and style enthusiasts flocked to the fashion show to get the dish on the season’s must-haves. The show was directed by Annette Coronel and styled by Izza Agana and Marina Benipayo. Make-up was by The Face Shop and hairstyling by Studio 546.

Winning form: Enhance your athletic performance with Phiten titanium accessories.

The fashion show highlighted the exuberance of youth, referencing the contemporary art movement — which seeks inspiration from imagery, styles and themes of advertising, mass media and popular culture. It also featured the participating brands’ pieces that epitomize four of today’s hottest trends: the brash, rock n’ roll and edgy street-smart flair of modern-style graffiti; the mystery and wit of abstract; the hot house blooms of flower power; the fringe, feathers and floppy hats of the carefree and lighthearted modern hippie; and the creative exuberance, unusual patterns and vivid colors of psychedelic.

Participating brands included hip labels People Are People, The Row and Mint, whose pieces reflected fashion-forward urban street styles and modern occasion wear. Young individuals were encouraged to make a statement with printed tees and trendy jeans from Mint, party pieces from People are People or classic and elegant outfits from The Row. Popular retail brands Bench and Human featured classic everyday ensembles with that fresh twist.

Coaxing fashionistas to slip into casual chic were Bayo, Naf Naf, Kashieca, Tubby and Space, while Plains and Prints, Unarosa and Maldita advocated dressing up in bold, edgy corporate and occasion wear. The overall result was an energetic fashion shift from classily sophisticated to office or party-ready.

Footwear favorites presented a fun mix of statement-worthy items. The audience indulged in reliable athletic footwear and comfortable everyday staples from Converse, New Balance, Adidas and Traffic and was challenged to look their fashionable best with stylish heels and colorful flats from Schu and VNC.

Accessories, personal care and beauty brands Yhansy, No Curfew, Phiten, The Face Shop and Studio 546 completed the roster of participating brands. Viewers were enamored with funky finds—from bracelets and necklaces from Yhansy, to sports accessories from Phiten, and premium timepieces from No Curfew.
