Shopping with a fashionista little girl

STYLE S.O.S. - Lucy Torres-Gomez, Rissa M. Samson, Tingting Cojuangco -

Dear Lucy,

My daughter who is only nine years old can wear some of my clothes already. We actually have the same size for tops! I am only 30 years old, I had my baby very early. Anyway, she has a fascination for both of us borrowing each other’s stuff. Would you know of any store we can go to together that have items suitable for the mommy and her fashionista little girl?

Krista

We are the same! My nine-year-old daughter so loves raiding my closet, too, and it is absolute heaven for her when we are able to shop together, in the same store, for items that we can borrow between us!

Over the weekend, I was at TriNoma and I went to this store called CPS or CHAPS. Oh, they have such lovely stuff that reminds you of summer and happiness. I was able to get tunic tops that my little girl has worn as a dress. It is so much fun! There are also pretty printed skirts that I can dress up with a cardigan and heels, and that Juliana can just wear with a tank to look just like the little girl that she is. Lots of nice stuff, lots of nice different ways to wear it. Check out the store, I am pretty sure you and your daughter will enjoy shopping there.

Itch your best bet vs. Mosquito bites

Dear Rissa,

Mosquitoes keep biting like crazy this season. Even if I use mosquito repellants, they still manage to bite. Can you recommend a product that instantly soothes irritations like bites?

MDL

My skin is a bit sensitive and irritations even like a mosquito bite can easily leave a dark mark on my skin. So I always make sure to carry something that can quickly soothe those unwanted bites. Check out Bite Be Gone from Rustan’s Essenses. This has been a staple in my bag. It’s a two-in-one product that protects the skin before and after bites. This handy product comes in a convenient tube you can easily bring in your handbag. The tip has a roller balm that relieves itching, swelling, and redness. When you unscrew the cap, the tube is filled with a mosquito repellant cream.

Another product to try is After Bite — The Itch Eraser. This was a recent find over the weekend at True Value. I love it because the pen-like applicator is convenient to carry even in small bags. It not only relieves mosquito bites but also bites from other insects, stings, rashes, and minor skin irritations. I’ve already tried it and the product goes on clear, dries fast, and really gives instant relief.

Clean Tricks For Dirty White Bags

Hi, Ting!

I have a problem with cleaning a bag without damaging it. It’s a white-colored knitted leather bag so it’s really prone to getting dirty.

Our maid told me it’s hard to clean it since the leather might get damaged when washed. I went to the nearest laundry shop to have it dry-cleaned, but the shop doesn’t accept bags.

What’s the best way of cleaning it?

Desperate Bag Owner

I use an ordinary eraser (for the pencil) immediately when I spot a stain.

I keep natural shoe polish at hand with felt cloth to shine jewelry or the same cloth you’ll find for cleaning eyeglasses. I dip the cloth in the shoe polish to clean any stain. Try it.

If that doesn’t work, try Vintage Restore, which does a really splendid job of restoring damaged/worn-out/stained designer bags to something that looks as good as new. Vintage Restore is located at the second floor of Doña Consolacion Bldg. on Jupiter St., Bel Air Village, Makati with telephone number 890-4326.
