Nail your holiday look

Lippmann Collection: Created with the stars

MANILA, Philippines - When it comes to the chicest nails in the industry, look no further than Deborah Lippmann, the celebrity manicurist and nail expert extraordinaire who works with the biggest names in Hollywood, fashion and music to create trend-setting looks around the world.

Deborah’s firm belief that “you’re not done until your nails are done” was already establishing her with an elite clientele such as Cher and Martha Stewart when an editor from Allure magazine anonymously sat across from her. The beauty editor had been hearing buzz about a new manicurist in town with a special touch and wanted a firsthand assessment. The editor was so impressed that she tagged Deborah in an article as “one of the best manicurists in the country.” Deborah’s client list grew as one celebrity told another, and it wasn’t long before fashion magazines began requesting her services on set. Deborah didn’t even know what an “editorial manicurist” was, but she would soon become one of the most sought after.

Working with all of the top magazines such as Vogue, InStyle, Harper’s Bazaar, W and Vanity Fair, she created the nail looks that would become trends for Versace, Valentino, Balenciaga, Donna Karan and many more over the years.

In 1998, one of Deborah’s favorite clients, Mariah Carey, was preparing to sing her Oscar-nominated song at the Academy Awards. Deborah was inspired to complement Mariah’s ensemble by mixing a special color for the event. Mariah gave the shade her stamp of approval. They dubbed the shade Satin Doll for its sheer silver hue, word spread and calls came in for fashion-inspired, long-wearing shades from Deborah. Since then, Lippmann Collection was born, a series of celebrity shades created with some of the biggest names in music and entertainment. Deborah created Sarah Smile with Sarah Jessica Parker, Just Walk Away Renee with Renee Zellweger, Believe with Cher, No More Drama with Mary J. Blige, Hit Me With Your Best Shot with Pat Benatar, Whatever Lola Wants with Kelly Ripa, and Purple Rain with fashion designer Zac Posen.

Lippmann Collection nail polishes and nail-care products are exclusively available at Rustan’s Essenses.
