Fashion fund-raising gala for typhoon victims
MANILA, Philippines – Two hundred of the country’s top fashion designers have pledged support for Fashion for a Cause, a fundraising gala on Oct. 28, 6 p.m., at the PICC Plenary Hall, Roxas Blvd., Pasay City.
“For the local fashion industry, when the going gets tough, the tough go fundraising,” says dean of Philippine fashion Ben Farrales.
Invited guests may give their cash or check donations at the entrance.
Proceeds will go to Philippine National Red Cross’s special medical mission called Blood Service Commitment that will extend medical aid to victims of typhoons Ondoy and Pepeng.
The participating independent fashion designers will be joined by couturiers from the Young Designers Guild, the Fashion Designers of the Philippines, the Fashion Designer Council of the Philippines, Unitel Fashion Philippines, the Malabon-Navotas Designers Group, Quezon City Fashion Designers Association, and the Premiere Cebu Fashion Designers. Each designer will present his best casual, cocktail or formal attire for the holidays.
The finale will feature the creations of senior designers Pitoy Moreno, Aureo Alonzo, Auggie Cordero, Inno Sotto, Noli Hans, Cesar Guapo, Boysie Villavicencio, Loretto, Steve de Leon, Danilo Franco, Mike de la Rosa, Gregg Centeno, Barge Ramos, Joe Sason, Renee Salud, and Ben Farrales who is spearheading the show together with event chairperson Mellie Ablaza.
Mellie’s son Jun Jun Ablaza will design the stage and the runway.
Hosted by Daphne Oseña and Leo Martinez, the fund-raising event will feature models, showbiz personalities, and beauty queens.
Overall director Ogee Atos will be assisted by Joey Espino, Robbie Carmona, Ariel Lozada, Raymond Villanueva, and Jackie Aquino.
