MANILA, Philippines - Classic checks and plaids are currently having a fashion moment as they make a comeback at SM.

Inspired by all the stylish buzz around the Gossip Girl (GG) series, plaid is ready for a lot of pattern play — from the preppie schoolgirl look (think Clueless) to GG’s  on-the-town glam to the classic vibe of timeless plaid pieces.

There are a lot of fun fashion possibilities with plaids — layer a short skirt with a white shirt and vest, or wear a breezy dress for a pop princess look.

Wearing checks, on the other hand, is so cool and so now. Pretty pastel gingham patterns have the fresh clean look of a summer’s day in the country. Windowpane checks make way for bolder statements while the classic black and white checkered pieces get a fresh new look with bright accessories.
