Skate culture + street wear = Skurban style

-

MANILA, Philippines - Pumping up the new age of sports and street style is Republ1c, the ultimate destination boutique for adventure and sports enthusiasts. At the “Streetscape the Republ1c” party, Republ1c launched its latest spring/summer apparel collection at the NBC Tent, The Fort. Republ1c brings you the freshest, most cutting-edge and stylish gear and apparel for “Skurban” sports, including skateboarding, wakeboarding, wake skating, kiteboarding and surfing.

More than just a stop for water-sports enthusiasts, Republ1c houses apparel and gear reflective of the emerging phenomenon known as Skurban. Influenced by skate and street-wear fashions and the lifestyle that had its skateboarding origins in Los Angeles and New York, the Skurban style includes heavily branded and graphic tees; hoodies as a layering piece; skinny, tapered or baggy jeans; flat-billed, “new era” baseball caps and skate shoes.

Pro wakeboarders and skateboarders exhibited heart-stopping moves at the Republ1c insta-wake system and portable skate park. Renowned wakeboarders Nick Taylor of the Nike 6.0 wake team; Kevin Hensio and Andrew Pastura impressed everyone with their awesome spins and tricks, while professional skaters Jeno German and PRO Asian X-Games skater Ansey Flores showcased their air-grabbing skateboard stunts and techniques.

Hosted by VJ Dylan, the action-packed event kicked off with a simultaneous fashion show, dance performance and skate exhibition. Models strutted down the skate park-inspired stage in funky and trendy pieces from the spring/summer 2009 collection by Republ1c brands such as Circa, KR3W, Supra, Skullcandy, Dragon, Pull-in, Ronix, Liquid Force, Helium, Hyperlite, The Hundreds, New Breed Girl, RVCA, Bern, RYGY, B Swim, L space, Lisa Lozano, Hurley, plus a lot more. Meanwhile, the award-winning All Star Philippine Dance Group showcased adrenaline-pumping action as skaters glided through the ramps.

Special guests during the launch were Camarines Sur Governor LRay Villafuerte, Republ1c president Lara Villafuerte, Republ1c owners Miguel and Julio Villafuerte, Republ1c brand architect Paula Rosales, senior merchandise and marketing manager Rica Santos and retail operations manager Teresa Orlina.
