For this cool new product, Avon worked closely with fragrance house Givaudan. Perfumer Claude Charmoille is like the architect of scents. He told me that there is no perfect formula for making perfumes because they are there to fit different aspirations. Charmoille explains, “To create perfume, there are 2,000 different smells. Just like music, the possibilities of mixing scents are endless.”
In this tropical, hot climate, choosing a fragrance can be quite tricky. You shouldn’t choose one based solely on the scent itself. It would be best to wear the fragrance first and wait if it suits your skin’s chemistry. To make the scent more appealing and last for a long time, spray it on the wrists, the back of the ears and cleavage.
For those who aren’t too familiar with fragrance, it is described in a musical metaphor as having three sets of notes making the harmonious chord of the scent as the notes unfold over time.
“The top note is the first contact with the fragrance,” says Patrice Roberts, Avon Asia-Pacific brand manager for perfume. “For Wish of Happiness, you will first smell the sparkling aromas and be in a light state. As the fragrance opens the door to the middle note, there is a luminous feeling. Then, the bottom note is what lingers on the skin.”
Angel Locsin Wish of Happiness is a fragrance solely for women who have a strong personality. The first encounter begins with a flirtation of mandarin, bergamot, black currant and pear followed by water flower and orange flower. Then, the fragrance is wrapped in the sheer delight of vanilla, blackberry, musk, vanilla and vetyver.
When I first sprayed it on my wrists and behind my ears, I just loved how the sparkling burst of citrus fruits sweetened by floral notes smelled on my skin, which slowly evolved into something sensual. It’s really perfect for our tropical climate because it’s not that strong and you can even use it every day.
