MAC launches Barbie makeup collection

MAC, the makeup of choice of professional artists at virtually all the spring shows, has tied up with a beauty icon for its exciting new spring 2007 collection. Barbie Loves MAC marks the first time toy maker Mattel has ever collaborated with an adult prestige makeup brand.

Colors are super fun, girly and predominantly pink, with names like Real Doll bubble gum lipstick, Malibu Barbie frosted fuchsia Lipglass, and Springtime Skipper mint-green eye shadow — all designed to make you look like a living doll.

Barbie lovers, take note: a MAC Barbie doll is on offer as well, both styled and made up by MAC in its trademark downtown cool. To house all the doll-icious products, there’s also a Mini-Barbie Loves MAC makeup bag with pink lining on the inside and the classic Barbie silhouette on the outside.

Barbie has been shaping styles since 1959 — including having worked with more than 50 leading fashion designers like Christian Dior and Giorgio Armani.

"MAC and Mattel share more in common than you might expect," said James Gager, senior vice president and creative director for MAC. "We are both creatively driven companies that have remained true to our inherent cultures and DNA."

"Barbie and MAC continually set the global style agenda," added Richard Dickson, senior vice president of marketing, media and entertainment worldwide for Mattel, "and our collaboration will not only have the fashion and beauty community — but the world — ablaze this spring."

The Barbie Loves MAC collection will be available locally at MAC stores in March. —Therese Jamora-Garceau
