Carbs, the main culprits of a pouchy ‘puson’

Dear Lucy,
I have a problem with my puson. I am 25 years old, single, and I work in an office. Everybody thinks I’m sexy. But those who are close to me, especially my boyfriend, always tease me that I have a big puson. Please help me! What’s the best way to get rid of it? I don’t want to undergo surgical procedures. Is this excess fat? I’m just hiding it through my clothes and accessories. But I really wanna get rid of it. You’ve had a child, but your body is still trim and really sexy. Should I stop drinking cold beverages like sodas, watch my calories or what?
Kness

Yes, if you must take soda, go for the lite or sugar-free version – it tastes just as good as the real thing. And go easy on the carbs, too. They are the main culprits of a pouchy puson. It is really all about making smart choices and having the discipline and commitment to stick to them. Also, please try to work into your lifestyle a fitness program that you will enjoy. I recommend boxing or dancing. They’re fun to do, and they will keep you fit. Stay away from crash diets and overnight wonders; chances are the results are but temporary.

I wish you the best.
Lucy

Nailing Down A Nail Problem
Dear Tingting,
I have a really horrible nail problem which has affected my self-esteem. My fingernails and toenails are damaged (from the middle of the nails upwards). The nailbed was separated from the nails and it has become whiter and dry. It hurts, too. I’ve consulted various dermatologists and some have advised Lamisil ointment/solution, but it didn’t work. I really envy women who have nice fingernails to show off.
Desperate

Once, months after a pedicure, I noticed that my nails seemed whiter on one side. My doctor said it was due to some bacteria in the instruments used on my nails. They were not disinfected after they were used on another customer whose nails had bacteria. My doctor recommended Canesten drops or cream three times a day.
