Fit for life

It is a daily struggle to lead a healthy lifestyle. On one hand, you have the good stuff like organic products, yoga and meditation. On the other, you have the not-so-good stuff like sugar, caffeine, red meat, cigarettes and alcohol. For many people, moderation is still the key. After all, we dont want to look unhealthy like some of the celebrities we admire.
To celebrate the healthy lifestyle, Century Tuna recently held the first ever Century Tuna Superbods Beach Fest at Pier 1 in Boracay. This event involved a glam party and search for the next Century Tuna image models.
On the first night, Century held the "Lite and White Bash" where celebrities and guests dressed up in white. They were treated to the newest product Century Tuna Lite, which has 50 percent less fat and 50 percent less salt perfect for weight-watchers and health buffs. DJ Karl of Superfly spun chill-out tunes. Plus, lots of items were given away like Motorola V3i phones, iPods, and Havaiana slippers, etc. Cool, huh?
The next morning, there were aero boxing, Taebo and yoga fitness sessions with Chinggay Andrada. Superbods contestants got to enjoy free massages, henna tattoos, hair braiding and a sampling of Century Tuna treats. Lucky them! The fun part of the afternoon was the celebrity games like the beach assault, kayak relay, tuna sand sculpture and celebrity Jeopardy.
Competition night was really exciting. There was a bikini fashion show with the Superbods finalists flaunting their healthy-looking bodies. Century Tuna executives were present like Joseph Pineda, Ayeth Evangelista and Gigi Angkaw. TV personality JM Rodriguez and model Bianca Valerio hosted the event. Fifty-five contestants joined the contest and were later trimmed down to 16 finalists.
To win the Century Tuna tilt, contestants should have not only a great body but also glowing skin and the brains, of course. Another important criterion is that the contestants should lead a healthy lifestyle.
Among the panel of judges were Pitargue, Comia & Villaruel Communications VP and creative director Ariel Comia; talent manager Douglas Quijano; former Century Tuna image model Phoemela Baranda; Us Girls host Angel Aquino; model Raya Mananquil, MTV Bling host Tim Yap; photographer Alex van Hagen; actor Richard Gomez with wife Lucy Torres-Gomez; and Century Tuna marketing manager Ayeth Evangelista.
Crowd favorites Jon Mullally (who is half-Filipino and half-Brit) and Fil-Am head-turner Michelle Padua emerged as winners.
Each of them won the top prize of half a million pesos and a one-year modeling contract with Century Tuna. The two will appear in Century Tunas TV commercials, print ads, billboards and posters.
"This is the first time that we held the Century Tuna Superbods Beach Fest," says Century Tuna executive Leo Po. "Since it was such a success, we are planning to make it a nationwide event next year."
Now is definitely the perfect time to get healthy.
