Wanna be a model? Walk tall

STYLE S.O.S. - Tingting Cojuangco -
Hi, Lucy!

I admire your beauty and height. I am a 23-year-old deaf girl. I’m rather short at 5 ft., compared to my parents and siblings, who are all tall. Some of my mom’s friends have asked me if I am the youngest of the children. The truth is, I am the eldest. I have taken growth facilitation pills but I am still small. They don’t work for me. I want to be tall – like 5’6" – and I like to be a model. Help me realize my dream.

Aeris

Five feet may not be tall, but it is not exactly short either. Walk tall. Do not take growth pills, be very wary of the side effects they may have. Be happy with what God gave you. Height is a hard thing to change. At most, you can create the illusion of height by wearing heels, using clothes that fit well, and toning your body. As for being a model, you can always enroll in classes. But an easier thing to do would be to watch those fashion shows that always air on TV. You really learn a lot by watching. Just approach everything with an open mind. Do not limit yourself, there is nothing you can’t do if you really put your heart in it.

RX For A Trim Tummy
Dear Tita Mary,

My problem is I’m gaining weight, especially in my tummy, which is getting bigger and bigger. Even though I play badminton, I feel I’m not losing weight at all. I want my tummy to be flat. By the way, I’m 41.

Dimple

Here’s an exercise for the tummy that could help: Bend from the waist down. Don’t bend your knees. Start with 50 stretches and then go for 100 daily.

Big News In Fashion
Dear Tingting,

I’m a career girl slaving it out in the asphalt jungle of Makati. My job entails looking good (or at least personable) when I meet with clients. The problem is, I’m on the heavy side and my arms are rather big. What sort of fashion do you think would suit me?

Dabiana

Never wear binding sleeves that draw attention to your arms. Choose clothes that have loose sleeves. And always wear clothes in dark colors (black, dark blue). You’re lucky because these days, big women – or to be politically correct about it, women with an alternate body image – can be fashionable as there are boutiques (or sections in department stores) that cater to their needs.
