Pure luxury, by Terry
March 23, 2005 | 12:00am
We all have our little luxuries. For some its a Krispy Kreme doughnut that you made your poor best friend lug for you from the States. For some its a back rub in the middle of a hectic day. While for some it may mean a Gulfstream and lunch in Paris for the afternoon.
For a beauty junkie, everything is a luxury, from a tube of lipgloss that tastes like white chocolate to an eyeshadow that mimics the colors of a peacocks feathers. The rub is, of course, what luxury tops another luxury?
For anyone who has used By Terry, you will know that its luxurious not because of which movie star uses it or how cool their ads are. Its a tangible feeling of opulence. Holding By Terrys handmade jewel compact, which is inspired by Mercury, cool to the touch and a symbol of liquid and solid, gives you an almost erotic pleasure.
Who is Terry, anyway? After studying at Carita, Terry de Gunzberg made her mark when she did a cover for Vogue magazine, where she exhibited her style and prowess. She started working at Yves Saint Laurent, where she ended up becoming international director of creation and marketing. Learning all there was to know about all things luxe, Terry created her line and finally left the venerable house to devote herself fully to it.
Her approach to color and beauty is classically French. She uses two tones and tints to complement the skin. Sheer but effective textures allow both coverage and a veil of color to brighten the skin. One of her star products is the Color Skin Enhancer, a seamless cream that comes in warm, flattering tones such as Glowing Rose and Honey Pink (there are eight shades in all). Its a must for first-time users. It can be used under makeup or alone, for that dewy but polished look. It can also be used to enhance your eyes.
Complementary products include the airspun Loose Powder Shaker, which leaves skin looking luminous and creamy. Same with the Perfecting Glow Foundation that comes in five shades. Its meant to complement skin but not necessarily match it. The color products are also richly pigmented and textured.
Among the color cosmetics, the Blackstar and Starlight powders are truly a treasure to discover. Starlight features highly pigmented powders that go a long way with a single dab. On eyes or mixed with gloss for lips, it gives endless color. The Blackstar is a new generation of black color pigments that are great for that smoky-eye look.
So, discover what real luxury is with By Terry, because a woman of note is only as good as the contents of her boudoir.
By Terry is exclusively distributed by Luxasia and is available at the Beauty Hub at 6750 Ayala Avenue.
