Satellite lands in Manila!
January 21, 2004 | 12:00am
Satellite, that quiet, jewel box of a boutique at Rue St. Honoré in Paris, now brings its original line of exquisite accessories and perfume to Manila at Firma in Greenbelt 3.
Satellite began to spin in 1986 when Sandrine Dulon, a young ethnologist, was traveling around the world with friend Daniel Ouaki. She started collecting antique jewelry, precious materials like gemstones, Venetian crystals and fabrics. She picked up anything that aroused her curiosity, bringing her back involuntarily to her family tradition. Her father, after all, is a knowledgeable primitive art collector, while her mother is a passionate jewelry maker.
Pretty soon, her taste for jewelry led her to creating her own first for friends, then for a few Parisian shops. In 1987, a fashion editor from Elle fell in love with her spring-summer collection and made it front page cover for the special fashion issue of January. Needless to say, it has graced many other covers since then and has had a lasting following among Paris cognoscenti who adore Sandrines original, personal and stylish mix of juvenile imagination, ethnological spirit and recollections from her various trips. Various influences merge in her creations, although fashion is never one of them.
Knowledge acquired through long years of experience brings immeasurable benefit to any creative act. This is certainly true of jewelry making. And it is also true in the quest for the proper fragrance, which at its best should bring the mind to exotic destinations, secret gardens, the beauty and strength of the feminine. With these goals in mind, the perfume Padparadscha was born. Named after the rarest and most precious of sapphires, it is a sparkling symbol of purity with an orange-amber color, bringing together a passionate union of woods and spices hot peppers and juniper embracing amber, musk, cedar and sandalwood. Padparadscha recalls fragrant memories so rare and genuine, arousing the sublime. This is a perfume to be worn like a jewel.
Satellite jewelry and Padparadscha Perfume are available exclusively at Firma located at the ground floor, Greenbelt 3, Ayala Center, Makati. For details, call 757-4009 or e-mail firma2@vasia.com.
