High-heeled pumps for a leggier look

Dear Tingting,
Im short. Can I wear shoes with a T-strap or an ankle strap?
Jessica
Better not. Straps on the ankle will cut your short legs further. Take a look at President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo, she always wears high-heeled pumps that are longer in front or at the toes to give her a lengthier look on her legs and feet. Often, your shoes can spell the difference in your total look.

Dear Lucy,
I have a kayumanggi skin tone. What bothers me is that Ive developed an uneven skin tone due to pimple scars, particularly on the face. My underarms are also dark due to the several brands of deodorants that Ive been using. Ive tried different over-the-counter medications to help lighten my armpits, but Ive seen no improvement so far. I would like to wear tank tops as theyre comfortable in our kind of humid weather, but sad to say, I cannot possibly bare it! How I wish Ive got armpits like those of Beyonce (of Destinys Child) as seen in one of her solo videos!
You glamorous women have wonderful, glowing skin simply because you make it a point to maintain it and you can well afford to do so. Pardon my saying so. Women like me can really turn green with envy when we see women with perfect skin like you. Is there any chance I can get back the naturally healthy skin I had in my younger days? Im now 34 and quite desperate. Could you recommend a skin specialist who could give me a makeover that I could afford or just anything that could get me started?

For your face, its best to consult a reputable dermatologist (I go to Dr. Sylvia Huang, tel. no. 722-2660), especially since you mentioned that pimple scars are one cause of your uneven skin tone. The dermatologist can then prescribe a treatment program that would target your problem. Most likely, she will prescribe products that contain retinol or hydroquinone both of which are whitening agents. If, however, seeing a derma is not an option for you at the moment, you can try purchasing over-the-counter whitening product lines that are very popular now. Pick a brand that is trustworthy and reliable you can try LOreal, Nivea, or Neutrogena. Locally, there is Ponds, Block and White and Eskinol. Before trying the product on your face though, be sure to test a patch of your skin (preferably the one under your elbow) just to make sure you will not have any adverse reactions and/or allergies. As for your armpits, you should go to a beauty center (like the Belo Medical Group) and have it bleached they have a treatment called scrub-bleach.
It would also help to wax your underarm hair instead of shaving it. You should also try to zero in on a deodorant product that works for you. Any product that will irritate the sensitive skin of your armpits will contribute to its dark color.
In between treatments, you can also try using papaya soap because it has worked wonders for a lot of people.
All that said, I cannot stress often enough that consistency is key. For a treatment to work, you have to do it regularly and diligently. Yes, beauty comes with a price but the good news is it doesnt have to always be an exorbitant one. With the wide range of products available out there, you are sure to find one that not only works for you but fits your budget as well. Heres hoping that in no time at all, you will have the kind of skin you deserve to have!

Dear Tingting,
How often can I use my basket bag to match my clothes?
Basket Lady
Very often, like I do. Its a staple neutral item I possess. I use one with all my clothes. If I have to change bags, I put inside my basket bag my smaller "of the moment" bag that holds less essential items. Then its back to my basket bag again.
