Sex and the European City

BARCELONA, Spain – From New York to Madrid to Stockholm to Geneva to Ferrara to Maastricht to Frankfurt, there are always sexy sights in the city.

On fashion-watching sprees on the streets of Europe, we swore we saw European versions of Carrie Bradshaw, Miranda Hobbes, Charlotte York and Samantha Jones as we saw bare midriffs and sexy butts.

For a sexy tactic, Europeans wore hanging blouses revealing their flat stomachs and belly buttons matched with jeans – this way not baring too much. However, the Germans were not very shy to show their sensuality – girls were wearing tops showing their backs and with different straps from corset style to X. Femininity still prevailed on the streets with plain and printed sleeveless vaporous dresses allowing free movement.

Most popular were all-black or black-and-white combinations, but for the Spaniards it was white and red from head to toe. Denim never goes out in style – girls were wearing below-the-knee denim skirts. Silky skirts were plain but with a few exceptional geometrical prints and asymmetrically cut. Capri pants were combined with colorful sleeveless shirts. The military look was still marching on with army printed shirts and cargo pants.

Biking is still an all-time favorite sport, and boy, do the Europeans bike in style! They wore baby shirts with tight jeans or denim jeans and accented with big beaded necklaces.

Thongs, strappy sandals, plain and embroidered slippers, pointed ballerina shoes and even bakyas were spotted all over Europe. But in Italy, cork platforms and in Spain, the ever trademark espadrilles and laced-up leather sandals took giant steps forward along with the Manolo Blahniks and Jimmy Choos. The key accessories this summer were those oversized pastel glasses and handbags with many pockets for the travelers.

But like Manhattan’s most famous femmes, European ladies’ objects of desire certainly included Hermes, Prada and Dior. But where, oh where, were the Mr. Bigs, Steves, Aidans and Treys of Europe?
