Ex-chief justice Panganibanâs wife dies

MANILA, Philippines — Retired professor Elenita “Leni” Panganiban passed away yesterday due to cardiac arrest. She was 83.

Panganiban was a professor for 37 years at the Asian Institute of Management, where she also served as associate dean.

She is survived by her husband former chief justice Artemio Panganiban, who retired from the Supreme Court in 2006, and their children Marilen and Alex Yaptangco, Dr. Jose Artemio Panganiban III, Celine Panganiban-Hannett, professor Maria Theresa and Manuel Manalac Jr., Evelyn and Peter Reagan, and 10 grandchildren.

The family requests privacy today. Her wake will be from Tuesday to Saturday at the Santuario de San Antonio Convento Gardens, Makati, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. There will be a mass and novena at 7 p.m. every day.

Her inurnment will be on Saturday morning also at the Santuario de San Antonio.
