All-new TT highlights Audi innovations
MANILA, Philippines - You dare or you don’t.
With these words, Audi heralded the much-awaited return of the four rings’ coveted sports coupe, the Audi TT, into the country. “Today marks a new day in Audi history,” declared Audi Philippines head Benedicto Coyiuto, in a short speech delivered before the unveiling of the third-generation TT at the German carmaker’s Global City showroom. “The TT has always led Audi into bold, new innovations.”
Rumbling under the TT’s aluminum hood is a two-liter TFSI power plant churning out a robust 230 hp and 370 Nm. Even here, Audi puts on its innovation cap. An additional indirect injection supplements the direct injection of the FSI. Audi’s valve lift system adjusts the valve stroke on the exhaust side. For thermal management, a rotary valve module and exhaust manifold are integrated into the cylinder head. The numbers are compelling: zero to 100kph in under six seconds, and an electronically governed top speed of 250kph.
The TT is a truly groundbreaking vehicle on many fronts as it premieres Audi’s proprietary innovation called the “virtual cockpit”. At its heart, asserted Sorensen, is the “highest-resolution, quickest-processing-speed display ever put in a car.” The wealth of information and feature, of course, is conveniently located in the driver’s field of vision.
