Opening reception of ‘Climate Week’ in the Philippines

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Last Oct. 5, the Embassy of France in the Philippines launched “COP21: The Road to Paris Starts in Manila”, also called Climate Week, to raise awareness on climate change issues as Paris prepares to host the United Nations Climate Change Conference  in December. Climate Week brought together government and civil society for a week of activities focused on the environment, which included film screenings, art exhibits, concerts and performances, and a symbolic bike ride along Roxas Boulevard. In his message, French deputy head of mission Laurent Legodec stressed the need for all sectors to come together to address climate change.

The photo exhibit, “Surface Tension: Perspectives on the Changing Landscape”, by Wawi Navarroza, Veejay Villafranca, and MM Yu was also inaugurated during the evening, while guests were able to view the film “When Heaven Wept” by Film Development Council of the Philippines chairman Briccio Santos.
