Lea Salonga co-designs a new collection with Philip Stein
MANILA, Philippines - Last July 8, 2015, about 200 people braved the rains to have a magical time with Lea Salonga in an exclusive concert entitled “The Sound of Legacy” at the Rigodon Ballroom of The Peninsula Manila. The event launched the first and latest collaboration between a global Filipino artist and Philip Stein, a global brand known for fusing luxury and natural wellness technology in their world-class quality accessories.
Will Stein, CEO and co-founder of Philip Stein, welcomed guests on behalf of his wife and co-founder, Rina Stein. “We are launching tonight the newest collection from Philip Stein, which perfectly matches the life and style of Lea, as we share similar values – that of passion, excellence and purpose,” says Stein. “I met Lea Salonga last year in October in Zurich. Rina and I had the honor and pleasure to spend a day with her and her husband. I think we all were tuned in to the same frequency. It was such a natural and easy bond between us. I think this is reflected in the collaborative work between us and Lea,” adds Stein, who then introduced a short video about Lea’s legacy as the inspiration behind Philip Stein’s latest collection.
The audience was then mesmerized when Lea suddenly entered the ballroom with her opening number, “Something’s Coming” (from West Side Story). Accompanied by Maestro Gerard Salonga as musical director, her rousing renditions of “When You Believe” (from Dreamworks’ Prince of Egypt), and “Go Distance” (from Disney’s Hercules) truly uplifted and inspired the audience, as she also shared quips about how she is truly grateful for the people who believe in her and share in her journey to create a lasting legacy that she hopes will continue to inspire others.
The magical time didn’t end there, as everyone in the audience was asked to lift up glass cloches at the center of their tables, to reveal the legacy collection watches hidden underneath.
Lea marked on behalf of Will Stein, “This means a lot to me, and to us. We hope that these timepieces will serve as a beautiful reminder for you to never stop believing that you have what it takes to build on your legacy – everyday.” “Today is the perfect time to begin,” says Lea. After the unveiling, Lea gushed, “Now I actually get to say: There’s a Philip Stein watch with my name on it! And I’m just tickled pink that it exists. Photos by Mike Amoroso
